Vaulx-Vraucourt Monument Bachelet

Henri Bachelet was a French politician born on September 7, 1852 in Écoust-Saint-Mein (Pas-de-Calais) and died on October 1, 1930 in Vaulx-Vraucourt (Pas-de-Calais).  Founder of the Crédit Agricole du Pas-de-Calais and the agricultural school of Tilloy-les-Mofflaines.

 

Farmer, at the head of a large property, he participates in many agricultural structures, and wins prizes in many agricultural competitions. He was district councilor in 1886 then general councilor of the canton of Croisilles from 1889 to 1930. He was interned by the Germans during the First World War, for acts of resistance. He was a senator for Pas-de-Calais from 1920 to 1930, a member of the Republican Union group. He is the father of Paul Bachelet, also a senator from Pas-de-Calais.
