There are a eight 1939-1945 war casualties commemorated in this site. The war graves are in the north-western part of the cemetery.
A Lancaster bomber was shot down over Groningen on October 20, 1943 by a German night fighter. The plane crashed at Eelderwolde, killing the entire seven-member crew of the 100 RAF Squadron.
On 22 February 1945 the Havilland Mosquito flew FB.Mk.VI with 2 pilots on board in the vicinity of Eelde. The plane of the 605 Sqdn was hit by a German Flak and crashed near the airport. Derek C.Hinton escaped with his parachute, Jack George Enticott was killed and is also buried in this cemetery.
