Monument Lancaster LM465 LS-U
This memorial commemorates the crew of Lancaster LM 465 LS-U of No. 15 Squadron, which crashed here on the night of 12-13 June 1944. Six of the seven crew members were killed. The seventh was able to return to England with the help of the resistance.

Took off 2315 12 June 1944 from Mildenhall. Intercepted and shot down by a night-fighter crashing 2 km SW of Meerlo.

Radio operator Jack Trend managed to get to safety at the nearest farm. There he received help from the local resistance. Five days later he was able to return to his base in England. After the liberation, the remains of the victims were reburied in the British Military War Cemetery Jonkerbos near Nijmegen.
