Le Quesnoy Communal Cemetery Extension, France
On Sunday 22nd April 2018 at 6.00h a New Zealand Dawn Service was held.
The service at Le Quesnoy Communal Cemetery Extension remembered the sacrifice made by New Zealand soldiers who served in this region during the First World War.
Organised by the New Zealand Defence Force in conjunction with the New Zealand Embassy.
The Battle of Le Quesnoy in northern France on 4 November 1918 was one of New Zealand’s most important victories, but also the last. A few days after the liberation of the town, the Armistice ending the First World War was signed in Compiegne, France. The liberation of Le Quesnoy is still anchored in the memory of New Zealanders and the people of the town.
