Löningen - Helmighausen, Kriegsgefangenenfriedhof  (info: Volksbund)

According to the information available to us, 107 Soviet and 2 Polish prisoners of war from the Second World War from the Helmighausen II prison camp are buried in this prisoner of war cemetery, which is lovingly maintained by the community. The prisoners were used to expand Reichsstrasse 214 in the Löningen area. Many died due to the difficult working conditions, poor hygiene and nutrition, and typhus.
