Those who died in the Oberlangen prison camp between 1934 and autumn 1939 were buried in the "Börgermoor camp cemetery" (today the Esterwegen burial site). In September 1939, the Wehrmacht High Command took over the camp as a prisoner of war camp.

According to the grave lists, 62 known and 2 unknown Soviet prisoners of war are buried in individual graves in the cemetery built near the camp, as well as 2,000 - 4,000 unknown Soviet prisoners of war in mass graves.
