On Sunday 9^th April 2023 a commemoration was held at Holten Canadian War Cemetery               

The soldiers of the 48th Highlanders of Canada regiment are commemorated annually at the Canadian cemetery in Holten. Under the name 'Cannonshot', the Canadian Regiments were on their way to liberate the Veluwe from the Germans. When crossing the IJssel, fate struck for the Regiment. It lost 20 soldiers including their commander Donald MacKenzie.

After the commemoration of these soldiers, all fallen soldiers are commemorated in the second part of the commemoration.
