German soldiers of the Second World War

- 62 German soldiers and some civilians. The youngest is a 16-year-old anti-aircraft assistant.

They died in the Meppen hospital, in a bombing raid on January 11, 1944, or fell during the final battles with Canadian troops in and around Meppen in mid-April 1945.

Polish burial ground:

- 16 soldiers from the 1st Polish Panzer Division, 6 of whom remain unknown

- 2 Polish soldiers from other units and.

Most of them died after the end of the war in 1945/47 during the Polish occupation of the Emsland in Meppen or were transferred here from other places.

- 45 Polish former forced laborers and children who died after the end of the war in the camp for "Displaced Persons (DPs)" in Meppen.
