Schoonselhof Cemetery, Belgium - Women of Ravensbrück remembrance
Ceremony for the Women of Ravensbrück
During the Second World War, approximately 130,000 women were locked up and abused in the German concentration camp Ravensbrück in appalling conditions. Many of them would not survive. Among the victims were also quite a few Belgian political prisoners.
A monument was erected for them at the Schoonselhof cemetery, with an urn containing ashes from the camp's crematorium.
