Breuna Kriegsgräberstätte – German War Cemetery
Info: Volksbund
There are two war cemeteries just outside the municipality of Breuna. 490 German and 145 foreign war dead from Poland and the Soviet Union were buried here separately. They were mainly soldiers who died in battle, in hospitals or as prisoners of war. At the beginning of the 1950s, the Volksbund expanded the grave fields originally created by the American Graves Service with the help of Boy Scout groups. In 1951, both war cemeteries were inaugurated and handed over to the care of the municipality of Breuna.
