Rekem Communal Cemetery
There are several veteran graves from the First and the Second World War.
Jean-Hubert Keibeck was a sergeant in the resistance movement Secret Army, also B.N.B. (Belgian National Movement), Rekem sector, Limburg. The B.N.B. prepared for the arrival of the Allies during the summer of 1944. The intention was to attack the German army from the rear. The Allies dropped weapons for this purpose.
Jean-Hubert Keibeck was seriously injured and arrested on the night of June 23 to 24, 1944 in Rekem while transferring those weapons to a ship on the Zuid-Willemsvaart. He was transferred to the Brugmann hospital in Brussels, where he died on August 6, 1944.
