Hendecourt Crow’s Nest

The forward slope of the Crow's Nest, "a landmark for miles and the dominating position in the sector” along the line of advance for No. 2 Company. The final few hundred yards were devoid of cover while the elevated Crow's Nest itself was partially forested and defended by dug in machine guns and mortars.
