Laon "Bousson" Kriegsgräberstätte - German War Cemetery
Historical Information (Source: Volksbund)
2,666 German war dead of the First World War
The German military cemetery Laon-Bousson was laid out in 1917. Above all, it was supposed to take in the soldiers who suffered severe wounds in the fighting around the Chemin-des-Dames in April and October 1917 and died in the numerous hospitals in and around Laon. In May 1918, the Chemin-des-Dames was again the target of an attack. From August to October 1918, the defensive battles again caused high losses - the number of burials during this period was correspondingly high. After the war, the French military authorities expanded the cemetery by adding beds from several community areas in the immediate vicinity of Laon.
