Guards' Cemetery, LesBoeufs, France - Funeral Service
On Tuesday 16th April 2019 a burial service was held for an unknown soldier of an unknown regiment at Guards’ Cemetery, Lesboeufs at 14.30h.
His body was recovered by CWGC staff in 2018 near Ginchy, on the Somme. Unfortunately, after extensive research by the UK’s Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre, it has not been possible to identify him.
CWGC will install a headstone on his grave commemorating him as a ‘Soldier of the Great War, Known unto God’, and care for his grave in perpetuity.
The service was attended by British Defence Staff, CWGC staff and local dignitaries.
