Historical Information (Source: Wikipedia)
In 1921, 1929 and 1936, bodies from military squares located in communal cemeteries in the Somme, including those of Popincourt and Beuvraignes, were reburied there. Three French soldiers killed in 1940 during the Second World War were also buried there.
The 6,050 m2 necropolis was built during the conflict. It contains 1,854 bodies, 654 of which are in ossuaries. In this cemetery are the graves of soldiers who fell mainly in 1914, 1915, 1916 and 1918. In four ossuaries lie the bodies of soldiers of the 24th Infantry Regiment, seventeen of whom have been identified. Most of these soldiers were killed on August 13, 1918, during the fighting to take Canny-sur-Matz, which left 83 dead and nearly 150 injured.
