Niederzwehren POW Camp
Historical Information (Source: Wikipedia)
The camp on the Keilsberg was set up immediately after the start of the First World War, initially with tents and later with barracks, and was designed for up to 20,000 prisoners of war. The first to arrive were French, Belgian and English. After the great German victories on the Eastern Front, several thousand Russians arrived. Some of them brought with them the typhus epidemic, which in April and May 1915 killed not only thousands of prisoners but also 38 members of the guard force.
