Alfred Czech became known because he received the Eisernes Kreuz 2.Class from Adolf Hitler at the age of 12. The film footage of this is also the last film footage of Adolf Hitler. 12-year-old Alfred Czech became a war hero when he saved the lives of eight German soldiers.
The Nazi propaganda department brought him to Berlin, where Hitler presented him with the Iron Cross. Hitler asked him if he wanted to go home or to the front. “To the front, my Führer,” Alfred replied. Czech was wounded during the fighting and spent two years as a prisoner of war. He subsequently became a carpenter and the father of 10 children. He had the photo of the handover hanging in his living room: "It's part of my life."
